booking a cruise while on a cruise?

Are there any advantages to booking a future cruise when you are on a cruise? Does it lower the downpayment, or give any discounts? I'm specifically interested in Carnival. Or would purchasing a future cruise credit(FCC) be just as good?

The only difference in booking onboard with a FCC and buying the FCC to bring home is if you book onboard, they give you two free friends and family certs and they can book the same cruise and get the same OBC.

Every time we cruise on Carnival we buy their voucher for $100. You have paid $100 so when you book your next Carnival cruise that is taken off your final payment. Then you get On Board Credit- $50 for 5 day cruise, $75 for 6 day, $100 for 7 days and I think $200 for longer cruises but check that. And you can cancel this and get all the $100 back and the voucher is good for 2 years. Ask about that if you buy one.

You do not get a lower price than what it is that day if you book on board any more.

Some cruise lines like Crystal, Regent and American Cruise Lines give a fairly good discount for a future cruise booked while onboard a cruise.

 

Most of the mega-ship cruise lines give you something more than if you wait until you get home.

 

But other than a financial benefit most cruise lines will let you book ahead on cruises that have not as yet been opened to travel agents and the pubic.
