bogofman Posted February 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We are looking at booking a garantee balcony cabine on Independance of the seas, Are there any Bad balcony cabines that we could end up with? looking at the photos of the ship all balconies look good without obstructions etc. We also will prebook tips, however the only option for dinner is fixed dining on our dates, how does the tipping work if we have prepaid and other diners on our table have not. Do the waiters know we have prepaid? Same with cabin staff, we don't want to appear mean. any advice welcome Thanks P&A
Cruise_Kitten Posted February 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2012 All Balconies are brilliantly placed on the Independence. With pre-paid tip they know who has done it and who hasn't so you won't have to worry about that. Those that have pre-paid and those who haven't get envelopes on the last night to which if you haven't pre-paid you put money in to them and actually have to hand these to the respective people. If you have pre -paid you put in a little voucher that says you have pre-paid. Basically if you pre-pay your tips they get automatically given to anyone who gets paid tips: Stateroom attendent, head waiter, assistant waiter and Guy who stands and smiles at the door to the MDR. You don't have to phyiscally give these people the envelopes if you don't want to. I addition to the vouchers you can put in extra cash if you feel that they have gone beyond the normal standard and then give it to them.....we do this for people who have gone the extra mile. Hope it helps CK x
Jason12 Posted February 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2012 That's exactly what I've just booked and for the same reason CK said all balconys on the indy are very good. Jason
bogofman Posted February 16, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Jason, Have you taken advantage of the free southampton parking if booking brfore the end of Feb? if so did you give the parking people your ship booking and they give your a free parking booking? on the booking web site it seems to be cheaper to book a garantee cabin direct for a balcony rather than selecting the cheapest balcony grade, then select the gararntee option, did you find that? i'm wondering why the difference, unless its a web site issue.
