Handicap parking in Charleston. Is it free with the placard or does the vehicle have to be specially equipped with ramps, lifts, etc in order to qualify for it? My Dad has a handicap tag/placard and 2 bum knees. The four of us will be in his vehicle, he'll likely be a passenger not driving. Just curious, not a big deal if it's not but don't want to be surprised thinking it's waived and then end up having to pay. This will determine whether I need to get us a hotel that will allow us to park there while on our cruise or whether we can splurge on a downtown hotel and not worry about the cost to park at the port, thanks for the help!

You will wind around a maze, where you have to show your travel documents, pay to park, and drop off your checked luggage. Just have

your documents ready to hand to security and have the placard displayed. No problem at all. You will then be directed to the handicapped parking area. It is inside a warehouse. There a shuttle will meet you to transport you to the terminal. Handicapped persons have access to the elevator once they have checked in.

Have a great trip.
