San Juan Embarkation - Victory

Leaving out of San Juan on the Victory next week. The ship leaves port at 10:00pm. Been on other cruises before, but never one that leaves so late. Can we embark early in the day, and then leave the ship to walk around, and then get back on the ship (like you can in ports of call)? Not sure if they require you to stay on the ship once you embark on the initial embarkation. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks.

I sailed out of San Juan In January on Victory. You can go to the ship as early as 10AM and check in and they will take your bags right away which is nice so you can have the rest of the day to site see without trying to figure out what to do with your luggage. You can then leave without even boarding if you like and return in the evening and just go straight on. They told us we would be able to board around 12:00 but not get into our room until 2:30. We opted to just take off for the day so we had a full day without waiting around. It was great to have it all taken care of early in the day.
