NOLA - best option to get from airport to hotel in CBD?

We are flying to NOLA for our Conquest cruise. The last time we flew in to the city (2008), we used Airport Shuttle. However, this time we will have 4 people in our group (2 adults, 2 children) and I am trying to find a reliable, yet not too expensive way to get to and from the city and the airport. (On that trip, Airport Shuttle was almost an hour late picking us up to go back to the airport...)

 

Can anyone recommend any other options for ground transportation from the New Orleans airport to the Central Business District where our hotel will be located?

 

I have looked at the city bus option for $2/person, but it looks like it will require a transfer since that line doesn't go all the way as far as we will need it. Not sure about having to carry luggage on the bus...

Best way is an airport taxi. They are waiting in line for you immediately and it is $56 for 4 people.
