JennLuvs2Cruise Posted February 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2012 I just received a post card from Carnival MasterCard informing me that beginning on March 1st, you can redeem your Fun Points for non-cruise related items such as cash back, gift cards, airfare, hotel and such. Just thought I would share this with others who have a Carnival MasterCard. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
goingsailing Posted February 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2012 That is good news, thanks for sharing. I have been trying to decide on a new credit card because of this very fact that Carnival Mastercard didn't have available to members. Now I may just stay with them. :)

carncruiser1964 Posted February 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2012 Can anyone tell me if there is any advantage to applying for this card while on a cruise? If there is then I will wait until next month on the Liberty, otherwise, I'll just apply on line now. Thanks
Moobaby214 Posted February 22, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2012 Once the card switched to being a Barclay card, we dropped it. The benefits from the card were so little we decided to go with a "cash back" card and use that cash towards our cruises. It has worked out better for us. JennLuvs2Cruise Posted February 22, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted February 22, 2012 When I was on the Dream this past June, they were giving people who applied for a Carnival MasterCard enough Fun Points for $50 OBC for their next cruise, and a small gift basket but I am not sure what was inside. I think you still get the number of Fun Points needed for a $50 OBC regardless if you apply on board or through the website online.

Almost Packed Posted February 23, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2012 when you apply and approve for it, you automatically receive the bonus 5k points which = $50 credit. it does sound like there may be a couple of other perks of applying onboard. however, we applied a couple of months before we cruised, were approved and started using the card right away racking up points. before i knew it, i had 20k points. redeemed 10k points for $100 credit, redeemed some leftover points for cabin gifts, and even had a special where if i used my Mastercard for my S&S received a $50 OBC. Can't beat that! So it was worth it for me to have the card in advance. Also, you earn double points for Carnival purchases. So i paid for my cruise on the card, earned double points, now I have more points for my next cruise. it seems either way, may be a "wash". no t-shirt, but I had more time to earn more points for booze etc.
