CaribbeanBlue Posted April 21, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2005 These places all accept US currencey. I would suggest having a low of a denomination as possible as many vendors may have difficulty making change. Lots of dollar bills for tips, taxis, snacks etc is useful. Bring along a bunch of post card stamps also. There is nothing so sad as seeing tourists standing in a long line at the post office just to drop a few cards in the mail. Such a waste of time CaribbeanBlue http://www.*****.org

There is nothing so sad as seeing tourists standing in a long line at the post office just to drop a few cards in the mail. Such a waste of timehttp://www.*****.orgForeign ports will require their postage stamps. On most of our cruises we have been able to buy stamps at the Guest Relations for the next port. If you drop the cards in the box at Guest Relations they may go out at the port while docked. OTOH I have understood that if they don't have time or have already made their post office run, they will drop them the next time they are in the port. If you mail with US postage from the ship, it will be mailed from the US when the ship returns. Charlie
lephysteria Posted April 21, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2005 I agree with the posters above here. Bring US Dollars, and in small denominations. (i.e. bring lots of $1 bills). You use them for everything! We took $40 in 1s, and actually ran out. Things they're helpful for are souveniers, taxis, and other impulse buy items (where the shop keeper might not have a lot of change). :D
stargate fan Posted April 21, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 21, 2005 Or... Use your crdit card. The bank figures out the rate exchange and you earn points towards your next trip!! (That's what we always do.) ak

bearette Posted April 21, 2005 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2005 Just check to see if your credit card charges an exchange rate. Sometimes the price is steep on the conversion so it might not be worth it.
