Crown Bermuda April 2005 with kids good or bad idea

We are thinking about going on the Crown next April(2005)with our 11 and 6 year old boys. Our district has off for spring break during the first sailing of the season on the Crown out of Philly. Is it a good ship if you are traveling with kids?

I'm not concerned with the number of other kids that are my kids ages on the ship during that time of year. My youngest has fun no matter where he is and the oldest can usually find another gameboy or Yugi-Oh! addict wherever he is.

I'm also not one of those people that gets bothered over every minor little that went wrong that somehow culminates into tragically ruining my vacation. Things happen that you can't control, nothing in life is perfect go with the flow. If I'm not doing the cooking and cleaning or the rest of my very dull daily grind, I'm a very happy camper.

The reason we picked the Crown over the other ships to Bermuda is because of the Freestyle Dining and not having to rush back to the ship for a set dining schedule or eating too late or too early. And that will work so much better with the kids.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks
Leenie

My guess is, you and your kids will have a great time! It sounds like you enjoy your vacations. We've been on NCL cruises several times and always see kids having a good time. It's not the same as the newer Carnival, Princess, and RCCL ships, but if they've never been on those ships, they'll never miss the rock climbing walls, etc. My neice went on the Norway with us when she was 7 and had a great time just in the pool and playing on the beautiful beaches.

Hi Leenie!

I just returned from the 5/23-5/30 sailing on the Crown to Bermuda from Philly. There is a kids' program and a kids/ teen area that includes an arcade and game area. We also saw a lot of kids meeting up for board games in the library.

We loved the Freestyle aspect of the ship. We traveled in a group of 7 including a 17 month old. Everyone had their own choice of dining and when to dine. Dinner hours were usually 5 to about 9:30 which was really convenient. We were even offered a kids menu at the limited seating restaurants. (The filet mignon was a little overwhelming for the little one. )

All in all the children we did see had a goodtime.
