Special Fare Viking Cant Be Serious

We are booked on Viking's ship the Europe for the Portraits of Southern France. On this ship the accomodation for the catergory E is a Sofa and Pullout bed and because of its configuration this is one unsold category for quite a few of its cruises. Yet they have the audacity on the July 8th sailing showing special fare of 2564 where the price for the July 29th and other sailings is still 2156. Special for Viking surely not for the customer.

This is the price that they think that they can charge for this cabin for this particular cruise. Be warned: there's a reason these cabins are still left. I had one for my first cruise, not again. Not terrible but halfway below the water line, noisier, darker [small porthole] and can be smelly. However, they are cheaper which may be important since river cruising is surging compared to the big guys.

Your point is well taken but for PR purposes Viking now becomes synonomous with Greed. Even Michael Douglas who as Gordon Gecko in Wall Street said "Greed is Good" is now doing Public Service Announcements that Greed may not be so good. So its a case of whatever the market will bear or bare but let the buyer beware.
