Sorry if this question has been asked before..We are doing the Dream Aug 2012..

We have not gotten our plane tickets yet..but will be booking in the next few days..

We are a family of 5, and we plan on arriving the day before.. First question.. What is the best way to get to the port?? Is the best thing to rent a car to the hotel..??Second question.. is it cheaper to rent a car or is there some sort of shuttle service to hotels by the port? What hotels do you suggest? And.. is there shuttle service from hotel to ships?

This is not our first cruise, but our 5th, but never out of this port.

Any help would be appreciated:)

Renting a car is probably the cheaper option, especially with 5 people. There are shuttle companies and private sedan services that I'm sure others will post about. There are a few hotels right near the port, Radisson, Residence Inn and Country Inn & Suites. Hertz is located right near these 3, and Budget is just past the Radisson a little ways. There are also a multitude of hotels in Cocoa Beach, a couple miles further south. Depends on what you want to do while there, or how much time you actually have. The Radisson has a very nice pool area from the pictures I've seen.

Renting a car will be your cheapest option and give you lots of hotel, shopping and dining options. Car rental locations in Port Canaveral or Cocoa Beach will shuttle you to and from the port.

If you prefer to let someone else do the driving (it is about 45 minutes from MCO to PC) try Cocoa Beach Shuttle or one of the many others that make the trip.

Good luck! :)

We have done it a few different ways. Once we rented a car to there. Another time we took a shuttle. . We then had the shuttle take us down to Budget which is about 3-4 minutes past Radison at the port. We drove the car for 2 days. They took us to cruise. Just tip then. In front of Radison is a wonderful place to eat. Reasonable and Good. We ate breakfast each day. We also ate at Fish LIps. Very close. Had ribs one day in a plaza. It was Terrible. Tasted like heated up crap. Went to Ron Jon's up the street, Every thing is so close. We have gone out of here a few times. You can stay on the main road and go everywhere close , even the beach.

Just did Galveston. We did Dream also a few years ago. Just did Magic.

There are two Hampton Inns that offer the stay and cruise pkg that includes airport shuttle, your room and roundtrip transportation from the hotel to port and then the port back to the airport.

Hampton Inn Port Canaveral - pick up at the airport, room, roundtrip shuttleto/from port http://hamptoninncocoabeach.com/packages-specials/snooze-cruise

and Hampton Orlando Airport- shuttle, room, roundtrip shuttle to/from port

I don't know how much of a savings it would be but it does seem convenient to have everything rolled into one package.
