St.Kitts -definitely use wheelchair -it is a reallllly long pier, very windy too.

The ship was way down pier had to walk double length of ship I"d say. The tours did meet near the terminal entrance though. I did see a golf cart shuttle but can't count on it especially for return trip.

St.Lucia-ship was parallel for us to pier, maybe half length of ship from center to gangway, and tours met there. If shopping around pier (it is kind of a circle area-may want if diffulty walking. For tours not likely need.

Here is photo of St.Lucia pier as leaving: 2536216270103372150S500x500Q85.jpg

Barbados- Pier "parked" facing cruise terminal -I'd say have to walk length of ship to cruise terminal building as gangway was at aft end, but then double that to walk to meet tours-they are way off to the right out of photo. I'd recommend wheelchair again

St.Maarten: Yes wheelchair-probably the longest walk

St.Thomas: Have seen golf cart shuttles, shopping nearby, but lots of it. Tours meet near ship. May not need here.

San Juan -walk way as seen looking from terminal building back to ship--I'd use it here . ..also helps expedite boarding I think

Any more questions we sail this route again this upcoming week !

Will post a review when I return-

here is link to my photos from this route two years ago- although we had Dominica also:

In Barbados, if there are a lot of ships in port, your ship may be berthed at the far north end of the port, close to where they load cargo onto the container ships. If this is the case, they will likely use shuttle buses to get you to the terminal building, but it's still a bit of a walk to get you to the buses. I'd definitely recommend a wheelchair here.

Buffettfan's photo shows a ship in the sweet spot - right at the terminal building. You may or may not be so lucky to get the million dollar parking spot.

Last time we were in Bridgetown, there were 4 other ships in port. We were parked at the north end, far away from the sweet spot.

Cheers, P:)

Thanks for extra details. Last cruise we were only ship there! Sweet spot huh? Only to get so lucky in casino! We faced cargo area and found it interesting to watch them move containers around.

The cruise port in Barbados is a large one. Depending on how many ships are in port will determine how far of a walk you would need to make to get to the terminal. If your ship is on the far end, shuttle buses are provided. Like Buffettfan215, we were lucky to have our ship the Carnival Victory docked in the "Sweet Spot".

Thanks for this info. I've been looking around, trying to find out the length of these piers and whether my 81-year old Dad can walk them or if we will need to wait for a wheelchair or ride on a golf cart to the terminals once he's off the ship. He can walk short distances but gets winded, tired (on top of bad knees) if walking long distances.

better to have the wheelchair and maybe not need it than to not have the wheelchair and need it.

there were 4 ships in barbados the day that we were there and it was pretty busy. i would agree that you should take the wheelchair when you get off your ship.
