Room service tipping question

Does anyone know what the proper tip is for room service on a ship I usually dont use it but on the zuiderdam we did it every morning for breakfast I did tip but not sure if I gave them enough dont want to seem cheap . thanks for your imput

I am usually one person in the cabin and get coffee each morning in my cabin. I tip each morning $1. My parents get coffee in their cabin and tip $2, so about $1 per person I find to be what is generally given. If you get a full breakfast delivered, I would think $2 per person isn't unreasonable. I am sure your tipping was fine.

It depends on what you ordered. If alot ie a full breakfast eggs, toast, coffee danish etc for 2 then $3-5 is fine. If you order just coffee/tea and toast then $1-2 is fine. For dinner for two with everything I would give $5.00. This is just me.

Many cruise ships will tell you that you don't need to tip for room service, but I do think it is expected. For small orders, I usually give $2.00 - $3.00. If I ordered a whole meal it would be $3.00 - $5.00. I do know some people don't tip at all and others give $1.00 no matter what is brought to them.
