Are guests allowed on board in ports?

I am sailing on the Dawn in July and would like to have a friend, who lives near Port Canaveral, meet up with me for a few hours. Is it possible to bring her on board for a few hours?

Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space.

The issue is basically ship security, in this day and age, they don't let anyone on who has not checked out. This is the reason why you used to be able to purchase last minute at the pier, but now you must purchase a cruise at least 72 hours before embarkement so they can prepare for you. I remember when I was a kid (back in the dark ages) and when my parents took a cruise, we were actually allowed on board to check things out before they left. Sadly, those days are gone. Arrange to have your friend pick you up at the pier and spend a nice day in Port Canaveral with her.

I think the wedding party has to give a complete list of their guests 72 hours before sailing; they are given day passes and get on board for the wedding and reception. They must leave ship before sailaway. Saw this on a couple of my cruises.
