Casino comps and prepay restaurants

Although I have had only one cruise with CAS which was this past March on the Star a comped cruise from a local casino, from my comp experience from this cruise, getting the comps which were offered to me and not asked for had more to do with the amount of money I was loosing/recycling back into the machines than time spent in play.....

You are correct: the amount of money put at risk is the basic calculation used by the casino for comps. On slots, this is easy to calculate, as every $ is tracked. On the tables, time at the table comes into play, because your points are estimated by the pit boss based on your wagering and the amount of time you spend playing.

The casino floor is MUCH smaller than a regular casino, and if you're playing enough to be comped, then they already know who you are.........

Your experience exactly matches ours. All our cruises are through CAS and most of them have been 7 day cruises. Even though our level of play (i.e. the amount of money we put at risk) is quite consistent from cruise to cruise, the number and style of comps we have received, including credit at the end of the cruise, has varied from ship to ship.

This is obviously due to the way the casino staff chooses to use their discretionary control over comps.

However, I will say that in general we have never felt that we've been "under" compensated for our gambling.

I wish I could say I agreed.

I'm very pleased with the way the hosts treated me on the ship, but at this point I am VERY disappointed with CAS. On my last cruise I had over 20,000 points at the end of the cruise, and for my next cruise all they were willing to offer me was % off -- no comp, as I've received in the past with FAR fewer points. CAS must have REALLY tightened up what they're willing to offer, and as I said to the CAS supervisor, this gives me absolutely no incentive to play big on future cruises.

No flaming here :) Have you tried calling back a few days later and speaking to someone else? It really is hit and miss with them. I haven't booked a new CAS cruise since June, and was offered a balcony on that which I then upgraded to a suite. I don't amass anywhere near those point levels, so it may be that you've hit bad luck on who answered the phone.

I hope it can be resolved and that things haven't completely tanked in the last 3 months.

Good luck!

Ive had CAS hosts offer me comp dinners, and there have been hosts Ive had to ask. I also think part of it is if there are a lot of "high rollers" playing the same cruise. Maybe theres a total they are allowed to comp per cruise? I had 2 comp dinners one year and all my other dinners (not paid for in advance) comped at the very end and another year just one comp dinner that I had to ask for and we played pretty much the same as the year before. Im assuming they had too many people to comp that year, although I dont know this for a fact. Every year we are offered some type of comped room. The last 2 yrs a comp minisuite which we upgraded to a suite.

I wish I also could agree with this, but I can't. The only time I was ever given a comp to a pay restaurant was last year on the Spirit.

This year, I was on a 7-day Star cruise in April, and then a 4-day Sky cruise in May. I was not offered any comp on either cruise. And, believe me, I earned one.

On the Sky, it rained the entire day the shipped was anchored at GSC. I probably spent 15 hours in the casino that day. I play 25-cent four-card keno, for $1 each spin. On the last night of the cruise, one of the slot attendants came over and told me that the casino host told her that I had put through the most money of anyone else in the casino. It was too late to ask for a comp, but I think they could have done better. My points took care of all the charges except for the DSC.
