gratamama Posted March 19, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2012 my son's park district camp sign up begins while we're on board the Paradise next month and it fills up very, very quickly, so i need to use the internet on the boat if i want to do the camp. What's your experience with internet on board? Anyone know rates? In "normal" situation this would probably take me 10 minutes - not sure if ship internet runs fast, though. thanks
big_duck Posted March 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Count on double the time at .75 per minute plus a $3.95 sign up fee.

The speeds on the ship and the frequency of dropped connections is going to be a problem. If you are forced to use the service then find out how early the website will be available and get online early. The fewer people using the internet the faster the speeds. familyofeight Posted March 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2012 They use satalite internet which is slower than most peoples home internet. Satalite usually run speeds from 756k to 1.5M per second so basically it will be running at half the speed of your home cable or DSL modem. Unfortunately we have satalite at the house even though I spend my day working on lines everyday running 5 times faster my company just doesn't offer the service where I live.
