Dawn - AD Suite Info and Perks?

logcabin

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are leaving on the Dawn next Sunday the 13th. We were up-graded to an AD Suite. I just wanted to get some info from anyone out there who has been in the suite. Size?, Ammenaties? Perks? How is the Balcony and does it wrape around the side of the ship? Etc. Any info, photos, etc would be greatly appreciated. We are so excited about this! Thanks.

I can't answer all you questions....but I'll try. For size/layout, see the pics here:

Perks include butler and concierge service. Upon embarkation, you will find fresh flowers, a fruit bowl, champagne and appetizers in your room. There are upgraded bed linens and bath goodies. The concierge will deliver daily snacks to your room. There will be a butler's menu of better food that you can have delivered to your room (lots of choices). The butler will set up the table and even serve you if you want. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, Bigsweeps. Does the balcony wrap-a-round the side of the ship. I looked at several different deck plans. Some show it as a square balcony, others have it going around the corner.?

My wife is so excited. This was just a chance thing that happend and we got it for a great price. We started with a BE gty cabin and up-graded up to this suite, all by chance. My wife will just love the goodies and flowers. I'm looking forward to the larger blacony and breakfast in our room each morning.

Thanks.

Just curious..

Can you tell us how much the upgrade is costing and how it all came about? I'm trying to be an knowlegable as possible so when my turn comes I know what is a good deal or not!

Thanks

Yes - it does wrap around the corner, but there is a door that sometimes needs to be unlocked by the crew to access the wrap around part. You will love this room and probably won't be able to go back to a plain balcony cabin after this cruise.....but don't say I didn't warn you! LOL!

djmpj: Over-all, the up-grade from a BE Gty cabin to the AD Suite cost me $250p/p. NOW, that is because I have one terrific TA. The NCL cost was up over $300p/p.

We really wanted a Mini Suite and was quoted $250p/p for that up-grade by NCL.. However, by the time we got back to NCL all the Mini Suites were gone. We were VERY disappointed. However, there were AD and AB, AC left for a bit more. I told my TA $250p/p was tops what I was willing to spend, actually more than I wanted, but???!!.. Anyway, he booked us in the AD Suite and ate the difference. This guy is just great!! So, we paid $250p/p for the suite, my TA made up the difference.

We are so looking forward to this cruise. 5 days and counting! I just hope the weather is good.

Wow, that is a great TA! How far in advance of your departure date did all this wheeling and dealing take place? Is it just the 2 of you in the cabin? We are booked in an Minisuite (AF) with a room number, not a gty, but I am wondering what are chances are of upgrading. There are 4 of us. Can't wait to hear how your trip goes! Have fun~

What are the differences between an AC Suite and an AD Suite?

The brochure indicates a "living room" in the AC Suite.
Does anyone have any pictures?

Are the increase costs worth upgrading?

In my opinion - none other than location. The AC's are up on the bow and the AD's are back at the stern. See photos here....the AC's and AD's are almost identical in layout:

here's a question for Bigsweeps. My wife is concerned that we won't get all the "perks" one would normally get with the AD suite due to the heavly discounted rate we got. Is this true?

PS- Great picutes on your website, by the way. It has made us look even more forward to our cruise this Sunday.

You have been very helpful.. Thank you.

Everytime I've been in a suite it's been at a discounted rate and I've always received the perks. The perks come with the room - not the price you paid. You're going to love it!

I went on Expedia and looked at the difference between the AC (called Penthouse on there) and AD (called Romance Suite).

It says the AD has a shower and a whirlpool bath. AC just has the shower.

Have a blast!

Hey, just one more question for Bigsweeps (or anyone else out there who may know the answer). Do the AD suites on the Dawn come with robes? We are packing for our cruise on Sunday and my wife wants to pack her big, bulky robe. I was hoping that they had robes in the suites so we didn't have to pack hers.

Thanks for all the help and info.

Logcabin,

There should be robes in the room upon your arrival. If they are not there just let your steward/butler know and they will bring them for you. Sometimes the robes get delayed in the laundry from the previous cruise. Enjoy! Save the suitcase space for souveniers.
