sharecruises Posted March 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2012 HI...I have looked at Gordon, Lawrence etc...will be on Carnival Freedom in Sept, a group of us I am very used to hiring a van at ports...and I don't necessarily need or want the "favorites" of the boards since I do find that once they get popular they farm out their tours to cousin Joe or brother in law George or whatever and problems arise <grin> I did feel that many of the tours were overkill for us....yeah we would like to see a few scenic/historic places but probably also wish for more beach time. << can we /could we get a tour ourselves at the pier? << whatever tour...what could /should we skip, what should we "not miss"...?? and ...which beach should we go to?? Preferably beach with a bar/food/loungers at reasonable price watersports and snorkel not so important but nice thanks in advance
Host Kewlguy Posted April 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2012 There are lots of taxi drivers at the pier area looking for your business. They would be more than happy to give you a tour of the island. Just make sure you go to the official taxi dispatch stand near the pier entrance. We personally favor Jolly Beach and Valley Church Beach which both fit what you describe you're looking for. All beaches in Antigua are public and therefore free to use.
