Are the Alaska RR pre-paid food vouchers a good deal?

We will be taking the Alaska Railroad on several rides before our cruise. They sell pre-paid vouchers that will cover our meals - $14 breakfast, $18-19 lunch, $35 dinner. This includes non-alcoholic drinks, tips, entree, and soup or salad with dinner (I think). You can pick anything off the menu.

I tried, but I can't find a current menu listing prices for 2011 or 2012. I also called the Alaska RR, but she didn't know the food prices.

These are not the same as dollar value vouchers (i.e. a $20 voucher will let you buy up to $20 in food). I guess this is a good idea for people with foreign currency.

Does anyone have any experience with ordering food on the trains? Are these vouchers a good deal, or should I just order alacarte and pay as I go? You have to order them ahead of time.
