spunkyhungry Posted March 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2012 Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows how much the Snuba weight belt weighs? If a person's size matters, I weigh about 112 lb. Thanks.
spunkyhungry Posted March 25, 2012 Author #2 Share Posted March 25, 2012 Bump. I really need to know. Can anyone tell me approximately how much it weighed when you did it? 2 lbs? 5 lbs? 10 lbs? 20 lbs? I want to try it but am recovering from some joint issues and wouldn't feel comfortable wearing more than 10 lbs around my waist.
kgraham56 Posted April 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2012 It really depends on your frame. If you are 112 lbs of lean and mean, it could have been as little as 4-8 lbs. If you are a little chunkier, it could have been as much as 10 lbs. It is all about your total body density. Muscle is heavier than fat. So lean people use less weight. ken
Anthomaniac Posted June 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2012 It's adjustable, they can add weight once you are in the water if you have joint issues.
lumpkin8 Posted June 26, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Let them know your joint issues and I am sure they would be happy to put the weight belt on , and take it off, while in the water. We have done the snuba 2x. ONce from a beach, and once from a small platform in the water. Both times the staff would have been able to accomodate a request to put the weights on while on the way into the water (before being fully submerged of course.) Thanks. It depends on what it takes to make you "neutrally bouyant". Will you wear a wet suit? How thick of a wet suit? (1mm/skin, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm) Full arms & legs, or a "shortie"? If you are in the Carribean with a 3mm shortie, 8 pounds would most likely be more than enough. Full arms & legs on the wet suit? Add a couple of pounds. To help you imagine it - can you carry a gallon of milk? That gallon of milk is around 8 pounds. It really isn't very much weight at all!!! ;)
