Taxi to town to eat?

We will be in Grand Turk in April on the Ruby Princess. All four of us LOVE the experience of finding a little hole-in-the-wall eatery and dining on local foods. Can anyone tell us if it's worth catching a cab (if there are even cabs at the cruise dock) and where to go for some conch or other local foods in town? Is it worth it? We'd like to get out from the cruise dock area, and other than heading right down to Jack's (we will end up there), we'd like to see a little of the town.

Any suggestions? Easy to do? Are there cabs readily available at the dock AND in town for the return, or should we set something up with our driver to pick us back up?

I'm not sure on the availability of taxis. I posted a link in the thread below where kcparrothead asked about taxi's to the lighthouse. That schedule says it would be about $5 pp for the ride into town. I have heard of drivers taking cruisers up to the lighthouse and then bringing them back into town for lunch and walking around.

Once in town there are several places you can try. On Front Street there's Barbies, a real locals dive with conch fritters and cheap beer, and PoopDeck, even tinier hole in the wall by the mairina front, with hamburgers and seafood. Just before the center of town on Duke Street along the shore and across from the Salt Raker Inn, is the Sandbar, also Water's Edge is just up the beach. Both of these have great lunch selections. They are both on the water and a little more pricey than the two in town. Also up on Hospital Road north of town on the west side of North Creek is Regal Begal, a local's place with good local renditions of conch and seafood and Mookie's Pizza (mostly pepperoni by the slice).
