Pacific Jewel Aqua

Hi, i have just been on a cruise on the Pacific Jewel and have been wondering why have they got the healthspafitness aqua at such a prime position, could they have found a place for it below deck somewhere out of the way? The space it takes up could be used for people who want to just relax and look out the windows at the front of the ship, out of the heat, wind and rain on the pool deck! How many people actualy use this facility?

Cheers, Steve.

That spa area was there when P&O bought the ship and I presume it would have been a very costly job to move it. As you know, Pacific Dawn is the same ship and that area is a beautiful lounge which is a great spot for relaxing during the day and a nightclub at night.

Apparently, a lot of people do use the spa/fitness area (I'm not one of them:)).

When Pacific Jewel (Crown Princess, A'Rosa blu, AIDAblu, Ocean Village 2)was designed and built for Sitmar cruises (before the P&O/Princess takeover) she had a "Dome" where the Spa is now, the same as her sister ship Pacific Dawn, and the other Sitmar new build FairMajesty (Pacific Pearl). Sitmar apparently intended to name this panoramic observation lounge "Windows on the World".

This was only replaced by the Spa when she was placed with the German line AIDA supposedly to suit German tastes. I think Karen hit the nail on the head and the cost of reconverting it back to a public lounge would be prohibitive. Such a shame really.

It's a shame because it could be premium public space, like on the Dawn. I wonder if they ever considered converting it during the refurb from OV2 to Pacific Jewel. Or if they'd ever consider it in a future dry dock...

I know when they switched it from the casino to "The Dome" on the Dawn (from Regal Princess), they spent something like $12m on it. It would cost even more to switch the spa area elsewhere as there is so much in there.

I agree. It's ashame P&O didn't do something better with the Dome area on the Jewel as she definately lacks entertainment areas. I would love to know how much is spent on the spa experience in comparisson to the Pearl.
