Labour Day in the Dockyard?

We were planning to spend Monday, Sept. 3 in the Dockyard/West End area. We wanted to see the Dockyard, the National Museum, maybe Snorkel Park, the lighthouse, lunch at the Frog & Onion, maybe a quick stop in Somerset Village and to see the bridge, and shopping in the Old Cooperage for crafts.

I just noticed that 9/3 is a national holiday in Bermuda (like in the US) and it sounds like everything will be closed? It says that some businesses will make exceptions and will operate if there is a cruise ship in town, but that employees don't *have* to work and that since businesses will have to pay double time, most will be closed.

Any feedback? Has anyone been in Bermuda on a holiday like this? Would we better off making Labour Day a beach day and doing all of this on a different day?

We don't have a scooter and will have to rely on buses/ferries to get around- it looks like holidays run on a Sunday schedule, so we will be limited here too.

We have been to Bermuda twice on Labour Day. It it Very Very Quiet both Sunday And Monday. Very little is open Ferry /Bus run holiday schedule. Taxi fares run at a higher rate.

We will not return on this date.
