We'll will be staying two nights pre cruise in Edinburg. Any recommendations for a hotel convenient to city sights? Has anyone stayed at the Old Waverly? We'll be there late July.

There is currently a lot of work going on in Princes St for the trams, personally I would recommend against any hotel there, until further notice.

There are lots of others, depending on your preferences for location. On the budget end, the Ibis at Hunter Square is pretty hard to beat as a central location.
