marshhawk Posted April 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2012 I am throwing caution to the wind and creating a walking tour in Belize City which will include the museum. There is a supposedly large collection of Mayan art. Has any one been there? I realize that most people will say that Belize is not the safest place to just wander, but I promise I will be with at least one other person, and the walk is not far. SingingPixie Posted April 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2012 This blog post is from an ex-pat American who lives in Belize- she visited the museum when they had the jade head from Altun Ha on special exhibit. The head is normally hidden away in the vaults (too big a security risk) but it gives a good impression of the museum: http://www.sanpedroscoop.com/2012/02/i-saw-crown-jewel-of-belize-jade-head.html The blogger is a single woman who walks around Belize City fairly regularly without major safety concerns (I do think she posts here on occasion as well). Have fun!
