Need Help deciding on hotel!

We are traveling next March and need to stay one night (Saturday), departing on the Valor for a Southern Caribbean cruise.

I've found few hotels by searching the boards, but it sounds like the nightlife gets pretty wild on Saturday nights. I am looking for a hotel for my parents, my girlfriend and I. Not far from port, being taxi's are expensive in that region.

I've looked at the Hotel Milano, Chateau Cervantes, and Sheraton. What do you recommend for a "family"? Need a clean atmosphere and a quiet room. I'm not willing to pay a ton of money either for one night.

Another selling point is a free breakfast in the morning.

Thank You!

Hi from the Buckeye state! We are on the Valor Feb 17th and have made reservations at the Hampton Inn, Isla Verde. You may want to look at their web site. I called them and they gave me info on taxis.....the fare is 10.00 from the airport to the hotel and 19.00 from the hotel to the cruiseport. It's an extra 1.00 for each bag. Free breakfast is offered. The day of your cruise, you can go directly from the hotel to the ship and check in your luggage and then go off sightseeing for the afternoon. My brother just booked his room there yesterday and it is $179.00 a night. The staff is very helpful and will try to answer any questions you may have.

Try the Embassy Suites Hotel and Casino in the Isle Verde beach area. Reasonably priced ($159), free managers reception from 5-7 (cocktails, snacks) and a free cooked to order breakfast in the morning.

Sheraton OSJ is going to cost ALOT, plus they have a 2 night minimum on weekends.

From the info that you posted it looks like you are looking to stay in Old San Juan...is that correct? We have not stayed there but are booked next year in January at the Villa Herencia for 2 nights. Price is reasonable, free breakfast and it is getting great reviews at trip advisor. We met people on our last cruise who always book at the Hotel Milano. They said it is clean and the staff is friendly. They also have breakfast included. Hope this helps!

It isn't a huge deal where we stay as long as the taxi fares aren't going to be ridiculous.

I've looked at a few more hotels including Miramar Hotel which looks ok, they serve breakfast and have pretty good reviews on trip advisor.

I just looked at Villa Herncia, it looks great, and has great reviews. That might be a better option for us.

If you can stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan right where the Carnival Ships park that would be optimaly close to the pier. I think they may have a two night minimum to stay there now though.

I stayed there a few years ago and it was great.

Last year we stayed at Hotel Milano (a block up & easy walking distance from the pier), and had a great time. I had heard complaints about noise on the forums, but we stayed in a window room at the front of the hotel on a Saturday night and slept great with no interruptions.

We liked Hotel Milano enough that we are staying there again this year before our cruise leaves.

Milano is going to be out of my price range after looking into it some more.

I'm looking more at Villa Herencia as of now.

Hi,

I booked 3 rooms with king beds for our party of 5 (2 couples and a single person) for one night (April 21, 2012) at Hampton Inn & Suites following our recent cruise. Make sure that you watch for price drops as your cruise date gets closer. When we booked far in advance, the rooms were going for $189.00 (regular rate) and we got them for $170.10 with AARP or AAA discounts. I ended up calling them and getting two different price drops, no problem, and we ended up paying a final price of $134.10 per room with the AARP or AAA discount.

We enjoyed our stay there and it was a quick ride to the airport the next morning.

I was wondering if there were price drops if they would honor them. I booked the rooms at $179 with AARP discount. Thanks for the heads up!
