anjoliza Posted April 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2012 I have just returned from the 15 day Hawaii cruise on the Carnival Spirit. We had the upsetting experience of having a man jump overboard (as most of you know by now). When the incident happened, the Captain came over the PA System saying Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, Portside. Does Bravo not mean "fire"? Isn't Oscar the code for man overboard? Regardless, the Captain and crew were amazing and should be commended. As should the passengers, as we all joined in the search. I'm just curious about the different codes and what they mean. I think the code Alpha is for a medical emergency? We had one of those too, and had to return to Honolulu. It meant missing our stop in Ensenada but the health and wellbeing of our fellow passenger was way more important. I am so thankful that the Captain and Carnival put our wellbeing first!!! These things are regrettable but they happen and I will never complain about being inconvenienced by them. It is reassuring to know that if something happened to me, I too would be well cared for.
