littlered87 Posted May 5, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted May 5, 2014 For what its worth- We did start to do the walking tour... didnt feel comfortable & there were tons of cab drivers outside the building where you dock offering tours.. We went back... we went with Ronaldo , paid $50 (we tipped extra though) and had a 3 hour tour. he took us all over Nassau told us so much info and showed us so much of the island not just the tourist attractions and we got out at a beach, queens staircase, fort fincastle & the water tower, he stopped at a local fruit stand and got us all some fresh fruit, and then to atlantis, we got to go inside the casino and walk around , and one of the other couples was asking about fresh conch so he actually stopped at a grocery store & got the guy some! there were 4 couples total & he went at our pace. He was amazing!! We have a stop in Nassau again this year & hopefully hes still there & ill see if he'll let me snap a pic of him so you will know who to go to for a tour! MuffyKismet Posted May 8, 2014 #28 Share Posted May 8, 2014 I will be in nassau in september for 1 day- a cruise port -and my hubby & i would like to do the historical walking tour, but ive seen alot of stuff about crime rates rising this year... i emailed to get a price for a taxi for the time it would take to do the tour (it takes 2 hours to walk so im assuming alot less to drive) but the person that emailed me back said $50 an hour.. isnt that a little high? shouldnt it be by miles? and since were only staying right near the port that sounds a little outrageous but please correct me if im wrong and also.. does anyone know if thats still safe to do if we walk? Yikes thats sound very high!!!! We used Mario when we were there in January and we chose the "city tour" it was onlyh $25 pp and we had a GREAT time. IT all depends on what you want to see , how much time you have and how much you want to spend. Email me megator2@aol.com and I would be happy to send you Mario's contact information so you can get his prices and tour options and pre-book if you want to. Have fun what ever you choose to do!!! Lauriejl2 Posted May 10, 2014 #29 Share Posted May 10, 2014 I just got back from my cruise and used Cheryl for a private tour of Nassau. She was great! I had a list of ideas of where I wanted to go and she took us to all of them in 3 hours ( my choice of hours) she was right where she said shed meet us and was easy to find cause she was holding a sign with my name on it :) she gave my son a Bahamian dollar bill to keep and coins! She had cold bahama mamas for us and bottle of water and can of Bahama punch for my son. She took our picture with our camera at different sites for us! She couldn't have been sweeter! At the conch demo she was disappointed that they were out of limes and we couldn't try the conch salad.... She surprised us by ordering conch fritters at the Fish Fry while we were visiting Fort Charlotte and then swung over with us and they brought the order right to her . That was such a nice treat for us! It was more than I anticipated and we enjoyed her company so much! In the 3 hours we went to 2 forts, queen staircase, conch demo, bat cave , grey cliff chocolate shop, and Nirvana Beach and shopping.

near the beach Posted June 11, 2014 #32 Share Posted June 11, 2014 We paid $50 or $60 an hour for a private taxi in Nassau. We had a great time. We visited three forts. The driver let us off at the bottom of the queen’s staircase and met us at the top. We saw a lot of other sites. It was worth the money to have a private vehicle. We still had plenty of time to walk about the town and see other things.
