Putterdude Posted May 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Places that I would visit would include: Crazy Wolf Studio on Mission St, Ketchikan link Arctic Spirit Gallery on Mission St., Ketchikan link Mt. Juneau Trading Post on S. Franklin St., Juneau no website We are modest collectors of Native art and jewelry and likely the largest and best collection that I have seen in Alaska is at the Mt. Juneau Trading Post.
laughing husky Posted May 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Check out Alaska Auction....They have fantastic stuff and frequently includes native jewelry....You can bid on line from home if you see something that you like.....It is a great place to buy....Usually their summer auctions are on Sat. am....still time to hit the Princess ship in Whittier in the afternoon.....:)
PNW Traveler Posted May 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Two authentic sources that offer exquisite native art are: 1)Alaska Native Hospital Gift Shop, in Anchorage. Quality and good prices, all types of art as well as jewelry. 2)Alaska Native Arts Foundation, in Anchorage and online shop. Wide range of art and jewelry, including one of a kind items. Both of these sources benefit the Alaska natives. You can read more on their websites. Alaska native art should be marked with the authenticity emblem or marking. If you are in a port shop the proprietor should be able to show you the marking. There are frequently "made in china" copies especially in the beaded earrings and stone jewelry. rditton Posted May 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Also in Ketchikan - check out Tom's Treasures, just down the street from Crazy Wolf Studio. They have amazing native jewelry which I personally wear. I love them! :-)
