Mattresses--Then and Now

I first became acquainted w/ this forum when we were going on an AK cruise 8 yrs ago. There used to be threads about egg-crate toppers for mattresses. Bad back? Not me. Not a problem. Not interested.

Never say never.

I now have two bad vertebrae in my spine, and sleeping on a hard mattress ruins my sleep and all the other hrs of the day.

What is the best way to handle my problem on our upcoming cruise?

BTW, if it matters: cat 2C veranda cabin, Bermuda cruise, 6/10/12.

TIA.

On our recent Silhouette cruise I asked for a mattress topper as I have bulging discs in my back and the bed was too hard. I could not sleep well at all. The steward said being that it was a new ship they no longer had them. I asked him if he could put some extra comforters on top instead, which he did. This helped a bit. After a couple of days I woke one morning so stiff, when I looked at the bed a little closer the extra comforters weren't there. I think the asst room steward didn't put them on. Next day they were back. Next time before I leave home I will let Celebrity know I need a topper and hope I can get one.
