janine1030 Posted May 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2012 Did you guys do a wedding party? MOH best man? Flower girl? Ring Bearer? Did you keep it small? Do as you would in a regular wedding?
gymbomb Posted May 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We originally weren't going to, but then decided to have a small wedding party. We have MOH, Best Man, and flower girl. Only 21 total guests, so would be weird for us to have too many in the wedding party I think.
Twin A Posted May 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We're keeping it small with a MOH, a Best Man, and Ringbearer.
Love.II.Cruise Posted May 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We only had 15 guests and had no wedding party. However, my mom held my flowers as a MOH would during part of the ceremony and my FIL did hold our rings.
jaded99 Posted May 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We have 41 guests and our wedding party is just best man / groomsman / MOH / bridesmaid - just 4 people, plus us obviously and my dad escorting me. There is only one child going to the wedding and it was a late addition, so we decided not to bother with the flower girl/ring bearer thing, especially since the wedding is on a school day.. dcdiva Posted May 7, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We didn't plan on having a wedding party. Then one day my sister called, all excited. She found the perfect bridesmaids dresses. Great dress, big sale, so she BOUGHT them!! Imagine my surprise. In the end it all worked out. We had 4 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen. At first, it seemed like a huge wedding party to me. But with 60 guests and most everyone in black tie, it worked out great. But I still give my sister a hard time about it.

laineyj Posted May 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2012 It may seem silly, but I am having 4 bridesmaids and 2 moh, 5 groomsmen, 1 best man, ring bearer and flower girl. All are family member and only some are joining us on the cruise.
FLblondi23 Posted May 8, 2012 #12 Share Posted May 8, 2012 No wedding party for me! Will have about 22 total guests. My "best friend", who's wedding I am the MOH in this summer (in which I am travelling from FL to Spokane, Washington for), actually didn't talk to me for 2 weeks after I told her I wasn't having a bridal party and the wedding was going to be small/family only. People will be unhappy no matter what choice you make... so choose what works best for you!

Do what you both want and that is what makes it your day. Do not listen to friends and parents that may protest your wedding. You need to hold your ground. This may be the first test of your marriage.

sarah85 Posted May 8, 2012 #15 Share Posted May 8, 2012 My wedding will only be 20-30 people however I am having my sister as MOD any my two best friends as bridesmaids and there will be three groomsmen. Yes this may sound and even look weird for a small wedding but I want those important people standing next to me. I really think its a total personal choice. The rest of my wedding isn't traditional so why should that part be!
cruiseonthebrain Posted May 8, 2012 #16 Share Posted May 8, 2012 We weren't going to have a wedding party, but then we figured out that my nieces would love to be part of a wedding (nine, nine, and one) so we had two junior bridesmaid and a flower girl. The JBM's walked down the aisle ahead of us- of course my youngest niece was too little for that, but it all made for some great pictures!
acireta Posted May 8, 2012 #17 Share Posted May 8, 2012 We only had 21 guests, which included 2 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen, and it didn't look weird having 4 of 21 standing up at the front. It was a small wedding as far as the number of guests, but for me personally, I couldn't imagine not having had my two best friends up there with me. But really, it's whatever works for you and your FI, whatever feels right for your situation!
uvakat Posted May 8, 2012 #18 Share Posted May 8, 2012 We are having 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen, along with parents. So far we have 16 cabins total, but we just decided on what worked for us.
Bostoncruiser35 Posted May 9, 2012 #19 Share Posted May 9, 2012 We are doing small as well. MOH(my sister), BM(his brother),1 bridesmaid ( daughter) 1 groomsman (son). No usually it is the bride who wants a bigger party, me I want to keep it small. My dh has 3 brothers and I just hope he picks just one and leaves it at that, otherwise those #s can change. 2013CruiseBride Posted May 10, 2012 #20 Share Posted May 10, 2012 We decided to not have a wedding party. We are first were going to have a MOH and BM, but then the BM couldn't decide i he was going to be able to cruise with us or not, so we decided it would be easier to just not have a wedding party at all. As of right now I am thinking we will have about 20 - 30 guests, so I'm thinking that the wedding party won't be really missed.
Artemis908 Posted May 10, 2012 #21 Share Posted May 10, 2012 We had 78 guests. I had a MOH and 3 bridesmaids, my husband had a BM and 3 groomsmen + a last minute guilt trip "usher". It was mostly just nice to have people stand up with us and go dress shopping with etc etc. Our wedding party also helped us with tasks like handing out tips or handing out boutonnieres and corsages. jul1221 Posted June 3, 2012 #24 Share Posted June 3, 2012 We're working on our final liist...only 27 days to go! We are having 1 MOH & 1 BM. At this point our guest list is 41, with 5 kids. It got to complicated to choose a RB and a FG. Needless to say, my niece (age 7) keeps asking me if she can be the FG and my brother wants his daughter (age 2) to be the FG. Do you see my dilema? I just said NO to everyone.
gymbomb Posted June 4, 2012 #25 Share Posted June 4, 2012 That does sound like it could create some problems! Sounds like you made a smart decision. We only have 1 kid attending the wedding (niece age 5), so it was easy to let her be the FG without bringing out any family drama.
