Hi - I went to Ambergris last summer and there seemed to be plenty to do. It is a lot more touristy than Caye Caulker... So if you're looking for lots to do, I'd say Ambergris, but if you're just looking to lay around on the beach, try Caye Caulker.

Here are some pics from my trip to Belize... we didn't do a cruise, just a vacation all over Belize, but did spend a day on Ambergris - Belize Pictures

Here is the water taxi schedule... San Pedro is the city on Ambergris Caye. Good luck!

Thanks for the info!!! I think we might go to Caulker caye instead of Ambergris because of the time. Our ship arrives in Belize City at 9:00am. and we have to be back at 6:00pm. We would have to catch the 10:30 taxi out and the 3:30 back. Not alot of time in San Pedro if the ride is 1hr. 15min. versus 45min to Caulker. What do you think. Thanks!!! John

Yeah, that might be your best option. It looked like a fun place... just a little less touristy! You will have to let me know how it is!

I would not reccomend Caulker Caye. My wife and I just returned from a cruise to Belize and had a great time at Geoff Caye. See my earlier post for more information.

We were with a group of 10 and the other 8 went to Caulker Caye. They did not have a good experience! Till they tendered to shore and took the water taxi both ways they only were able to stay a couple hours and according to their account that was too long. The only good thing they had to say about Caulker Caye was that the food on the island was pretty good.

If you just want a nice beach and make the most of the short time in port I suggest Geoff Caye.

Enjoy!

How would you get to Geoff Caye from the cruise terminal. Thanks for any feedback! :D
