Jamaica walking question

We (husband, 15yr old son, self) will be in MoBay off the Carnival Magic 5-30-12 we have been 3 other times so we don't want to spend a lot of time or money there this time. Is Dr Caves Beach a close enough and safe enough walk.

Too far for a walk, you will need a taxi. I believe the price was $5 p/p to the beach.
