Pride of America - Port or Starboard?

Recommended Posts

Hello - We are planning on cruising Hawaii in July 2013. We will be taking a balcony cabin and we are very interested in getting a good view of the Napali Coast on the last afternoon of the cruise. Based on the route that we see in the brochure, what side of the ship do you recommend for a better daylight view from the balcony? Port or Starboard?

Also, would anyone have a sample copy of the daily itinerary newsletter that the passengers get each day?

Your advice and help is appreciated.

Regardless of which side your cabin is on the POA, the best view for us is on top deck of the ship, Fwd - with a good DVD & camera to capture those moving scenic beauties, you get a full panoramic view all around. It's windy & could feel a bit chilly upstairs, so take along having a windbreaker or fleece jacket (which you need for watching the sunrise at the Haleakala crater) - we did our own sunset tour, wow - unforgettable at 10,000 ft. above the clouds.

We were on the POA in April 2010. We sat on our port side balcony and watched the Napali coast go by. We made reservations at the Italian restaurant (sorry can't remember the name) and watched from the starboard side after the turnaround. IMHO the light is better for the first viewing. Of course sunset is earlier in April than in summer.

It is an awesome sight!
