MSC Armonia - few questions from a msc newbie

Hi we have been cruising CCL and Princess before, are Europeans and giving MSC a try on the Armonia in September 2012 on the Eastern Mediterranian trip.

A few questions:

- can we preorder a pack'n'play for our children and how possible is it that it won't be there?

- are there any restrictions concerning toddlers going into pool with swimming diapers?

- what time can we get on the ship, the embarkation is about 4pm, we are in Venice just a few days earlier, so would it be possible to get on before noon?

- what is your experience with bringing your own food and drinks onboard? we drink plenty of water and arrive by car so we possibly can pack one bag with softdrinks, do MSC check that and refuse to board the bags?

- is it possible to get vegetables and stuff like that blended for our toddler? and how about freshly squeezed juice for children, do they have it and do they charge for it?

- is there a soft-ice dispenser in the buffet area available with soft ice for free?

- is it possible to take coffeemugs with you and fill your mugs with stuff from the bar and drink it somewhere else (cabin, theatre, casino, restaurant)?

- whät recommendation,

- whät recommendation,

1 No idea about a pack n play sorry

2 No swim diapers in any pools

3 Embarkation starts at the time printed on your ticket.

4 Other people on our cruise did bring food, water and soft drinks in with no problems, even brought them to the restaurant with no questions asked.

5 They charge for every beverage except in the buffet area where they have water, milk, tea and coffee. They do offer freshly squeezed orange juice at a price. We didn't need the blending thing since our toddler eats solid foods but I heard from other passengers that they did oblige to requests like that. I think it depends on the waiter too though, how happy he is to make such requests to the kitchen.

6 I didn't see an ice dispenser at all on the Splendida. I'm assuming Armonia is no different.

7 You can fill your mugs at the buffet area 24 hours a day and drink where you please. We used to fill our daughters bottle with hot water before the show, after the show returning to the cabin to make her formula. No drinks in the theatre sorry.

8 Know what to expect, read all the reviews good or bad because they are both true, just people's different perceptions I guess. We had a good time on our cruise because we knew what to expect, and our cruise was half price anyway because we won a ticket. I wouldn't personally cruise with them again, doesn't mean that it was a bad holiday though.

Sorry, I have no idea what this is. Never heard of it.

- are there any restrictions concerning toddlers going into pool with swimming diapers?

Yes thankfully! Don't think too many of us would wish to be in the pool with a kid in a nappy, swim version or not.

- what time can we get on the ship, the embarkation is about 4pm, we are in Venice just a few days earlier, so would it be possible to get on before noon?

Don't think that is very likely. After noon, probably no problem, before noon, you could be in for a wait.

- what is your experience with bringing your own food and drinks onboard? we drink plenty of water and arrive by car so we possibly can pack one bag with softdrinks, do MSC check that and refuse to board the bags?

The official policy is no drinks or food can be brought onboard. The only "food" I've brought onboard are pre packed snacks like cereal bars. I've occasionally brought on a bottle of water or even alcohol and never had a problem. They are not that good at enforcing riles general. Can't say whet they'd do though if they saw a bag packed with food and drink when it was being xrayed

- is it possible to get vegetables and stuff like that blended for our toddler? and how about freshly squeezed juice for children, do they have it and do they charge for it?

don't know about getting stuff blended as I've nevr travelled with kids. You can get fresh orange juice at extra cost but usually at only one bar in the pool area on Lirica class ship's

- is there a soft-ice dispenser in the buffet area available with soft ice for free?

No

- is it possible to take coffeemugs with you and fill your mugs with stuff from the bar and drink it somewhere else (cabin, theatre, casino, restaurant)?

The only

Lace you can get coffee like that will be the buffet area. Might as well use their mugs as bring your own. They have tea, coffee and water available 24 hours in the buffet area. Coffe at a bar is extra. You could take it to your cabin or in to the buffet area. They don't like drinks in the theatre (although I've not been on the Armonia)

- whät recommendation,

I've answered your questions above as best as I can based on my experience of other MSC ship's in the same class as the Armonia.
