cabin upgrades but what happens if you are in a disabled cabin?

I booked our transatlantic trip on the QM2 yesterday for next year, and our ta said about opting into upgrade programme, but was not sure how it worked for disabled access cabins, although I have said no, as quite happy with what we have chosen cabin 8130 I was just wondering if anyone on here knew the answer?

Thanks Deb

Hi Deb,

As you have said before that you need to have a disabled cabin for your mother, then it is important that you stay with the Q7 you have booked. You will need to ensure that your agent advises Cunard to specify no upgrade, as otherwise you could be upgraded to one of the Q cabins that are not suitable for the disabled.

Deb, this is no more than a guess, but given the new rules on things like wheelchairs and mobility scooters that they are introducing from summer next year, I would imagine that if you have booked a wheelchair accessible cabin and opted for an upgrade they could only, if they are to remain bound by their own rules, upgrade you to a similar cabin in a higher grade.

I think you have done the right thing by saying you don't want an upgrade. One thing that would worry me would be if I had booked a wheelchair accessible balcony in the cheapest category, I could end up being "upgraded" to an accessible balcony which, despite being in a higher grade, was one with a lifeboat right outside the doors.

We are on deck 8 near the lifeboats all ready thought of that lol I have told TA to tell Cunard we don't require upgrade, option I was just wondering thats all, Cunard send me a questionaire to fill in to make sure we have everything we need regarding our disabilities.
