CurlyCali8 Posted June 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2012 This morning I found an e-mail from Carnival in my Inbox: "We'd like to invite you to upgrade your current stateroom to a higher deck." $40 per stateroom. I've already upgraded from OV to an 8A balcony on the Main deck. Will $40 improve my life by much?? (Leaning towards "no," but interested in hearing the 2 cents from others.) Thanks! :)

Thanks! :) If you're already in a balcony then I don't see any reason to upgrade any further. The only situation where I'd say you should maybe go for it is if you're looking below the cabin you're currently booked in and you see a venue that might be noisy late at night. Otherwise, keep your $40 and spend it on drinks!
vwrestler171 Posted June 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2012 It would depend on where the new balcony would be vs the old one.

CurlyCali8 Posted June 6, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted June 6, 2012 If the offer is for Lido deck, take it!! I'm a first-time cruiser so...what's the benefit? Easier access? Our current cabin is slightly forward (but not too much) on the Upper deck of the Splendor.
Dave85 Posted June 6, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2012 Our current cabin is slightly forward (but not too much) on the Upper deck of the Splendor. Open up the deck plan and look at Deck 5 (Promenade) and figure out what is directly below you. That will enlighten the decision. I assume you're not right over The Red Carpet (dance club) since you're "slightly forward." That spot could be really loud. Only other spot that might give me pause is being right over the casino (because its loud and open late), but I've never stayed right over it so I'm not sure if its an issue or not. Hopefully you'll look and see something nice and quiet underneath you and its a non-issue.
