edmusic Posted June 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2012 I was late to the party and all the 'go to' companies like Harvs and Marvs, Orca Adventures, etc., were all booked and I came across a smaller company called Juneau Whale Watch. From their website, it looks promising, with small boats with viewing at both the bow and the stern, and an enclosed cabin in case it rains. However, there is only one review on TripAdvisor and so I'm somewhat skeptical and not feeling real warm and fuzzy about them. I went ahead and booked it but was wondering if anyone has had personal experience with them. If so, what's the good, the bad, and the ugly? Thanks! sharecruises Posted June 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2012 The truth is....there are many kiosks at the pier...willing to make a deal You probably won't be in a 6 person boat like Harv and marv... it seemed to me that all the boats go to the same place and are in touch with each other They ARE willing to make deals....we got 10 people for 75 each, included transport to/from Auke bay and also they threw in the Mendenhall Glacier stop and return shuttle at no extra charge. We were in a brand new custom "jet" boat, with big windows , "defogged" that you could open...we sat low to the water...a sea lion came and played with us We went where all the other boats were...saw 4 whales...no bubble feed tho we saw bald eagles and dolphins and sea lions Our tour leader Trent was really funny and fun and informative I was happy

I checked out the website and it says if you prebook it is $120 vs 'regular' price of $136. But you mentioned paying $75! How did you do that? Just not prebok and bargain with them at the pier? We have a group of 6.
sharecruises Posted June 7, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Thanks! I checked out the website and it says if you prebook it is $120 vs 'regular' price of $136. But you mentioned paying $75! How did you do that? Just not prebok and bargain with them at the pier? We have a group of 6. Well....I have had freebiequeen website since 1999 LOL I would contact them and cut a deal... we had 10 ....and we were also stood up by Cory...I am a real "talker" (Irish American LOL)...and we had 15 minutes before their bus took off...so we booked it thru Woo Woo I had others on the dock offer 100...99....85... I took the 85 bid to woo woo and got the 75 with Mendallhall drop and return to pier thrown in You could....email or call them... my guess is you can get this for $85 or $95 no problem Maybe tell them you got burnt with the living social...you are welcome to mention me too Have fun....Trent is a hoot....I saw he posted they saw bubble net feeding for first time yesterday...hope that happens for you whichever you take BTW....their boats are really nice, custom made for them...big windows that slide open so you can take pics but stay warm. They have a "head" on board but I didn't use it
