okavango Posted June 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2012 not unless the ship sinks LOL ,there are no passenger cabins below the waterline, deck one is just above the waterline and you tend to get the bow wave sloshing past the porthole at times when underway
dingadong Posted June 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2012 I dont think it is a stupid question!! My husband is fed up reassuring me that we will not be under water. Just glad to hear someone else on here confirming that!!!!;)
Gelbel Posted June 8, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2012 We always have an outside cabin the the bowels but they are never below the waterline. Some ships' first decks can be quite low. One on transatlantic trip it was so choppy, it was like watching a rinse on your washing machine.:D In fact so big were the waves that at times the cabin went dark momentarily. Please don't let that put you off - most of the Thomson fleet are quite high up. marylizcat Posted June 8, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2012 if it gets very rough, they put covers over the porthole to stop water coming in. This of course turns your outside cabin into an inside!
