Cannes Beaches

We were on Thomson Dream week of May 26 to June 2 and we swam at four of the port stops ( Palma, Corsica, Antibes(From Cannes) and Cassis.

Water was "refreshing" but not freezing (actually comfortable once you got in).Think it would be warmer when you travel.

Although we didn't bath in Cannes itself, there were two options. Turn left as you exit cruise port and can walk 20 minutes to a public ( free) beach which apparently doesn't have chairs/umbrellas for rent ( that's what the TI told us on departing the ship).

Or you can turn right and along the famous beach promenade there are multiple "private" beaches where you might pay 25 to 30 Euros per person to have a sunbed, umbrella and access to their sand/water. If you Google "private beaches in Cannes" you'll come up with a list and their specific prices.

Hope this is helpful.

Where are the best beaches to go to? How far and How do we get there? Can we swim in late June?

Thanks

Since you are specifically asking about Cannes we would suggest simply walking over to the Plage du Midi....which is a short walk from the tender pier. Unlike many beaches on the riviera this particular beach is public, free, and has real sand (many beaches in the south of France are full of pebbles). When you leave the tender pier just walk through the parking lot and keep going a couple of blocks keeping the water on your immediate left (you are walking away from the marina and the center of town). There are plenty of cafes in that area (come back a couple of blocks and you will find some excellent cafes across the street from the marina) where you can get lunch. As to swimming, we suspect the water will be a bit chilly (but swimmable) that time of year.
