drew sailbum Posted June 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2012 It will be a dry day in port for visitors arriving in Cayman on the Carnival Valor on Wednesday July 18, 2012. No other ships are scheduled for a port call that day. In accordance with the Elections Law in Cayman no alcohol will be sold from the time polls open at 7am until one hour after the 6pm poll closing time. This restriction applies to Caymanians and tourists alike. Intoxicating liquors may not be sold or given away during this period of time. Caymanians will vote only on a special referendum question on July 18 that asks about a reform to the voting process. If passed, that new system will be in place for the general elections on Wednesday May 22, 2013. Cruise ship passengers and those leaving through the airport are also prevented from purchasing alcohol on the day despite the fact that duty-free items cannot be consumed on the Island.
