Children on the Dawn

We will be sailing 5/22/05 on the Dawn with a four year old and a two year old. How are the children grouped in the day camp? Will they be together? When We go on excursions, are there car seats for the children, or must we bring ours? This is the first time that we are cruising with the children and would appreciate any suggetions that you can give me.

Welcome to the 5/22 cruise! I am not sure about the camp for children that young. My guess is that they will be together. As for car seats, there are none. If you want to use them for excursions, you will need to bring your own.

NCL's Kids Crew is divided up into four age groups:

JUNIOR SAILORS (AGE 2-5)

FIRST MATES (AGE 6-9)

NAVIGATORS (AGE 10-12)

TEENS (AGE 13-17)

Your two kids should be grouped together.

NJCruiser21, I am new to this site, and will be traveling on the 5/22 sailing of the Dawn with our kids. Would love to meet up with other NJ Families while on board. Is the meeting that you referenced for this purpose? Thanks, Jackie

Can't believe your trip is only a few days away. Have a wonderful time. Have a drink for me with the other FOD's. Couple of things I thought about to remind you to do....

-Do go up on deck late at night. The wind and the stars are amazing. I prefered the back of the ship (aft). Take your honey and enjoy. That area is also great for sunning when the pool is way too crowded and noisy.

-Do have breakfast in the Venetian...and don't miss the lunch there as well.

-Do have a drink in the hot tubs after dark. It is beautiful. I preferred the hot tub all the way front...not around the pool.

-Do order double escargot appetizer in Le Bistro. AND get the chocolate fondu.

-DON'T bother with the casino. Worst odds I have EVER seen. You live in NJ, you do better at the Borgata.

-Enjoy all the ports. If you wait about 45 minutes after they start letting folks off the ship, you can walk right off.

Just have a great time. And find your own fun on the Dawn. I wish I was going along.

Read On Another Message Board That The Facilities For A 2 Year Old And A Four Year Old Are Rather Limited. It Said That These Children Can Use The Pool And Kid's Crew When The Older Children Are Not Using Them. My Main Concern Is From 7:00-9:00 As They Are Not Very Patient In A Restaurant And I Would Like To Feed Them Ahead Of Time.

You can feed the little ones at the kids cafe.(very cute kid size buffet)..Then put them in the kids crew...Then you can go dine....Thats what i did last year on the Dawn. As far as i know the kids pool is open to all kids not just the bigger ones.:)

Thank you so much for your info. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you. Star Bar it is. I'm so excited that I'm not getting any work done. I'm addicted to these boards. Hey, any advice about what time to get to the ship on Sunday to board early. I'm in a mini suite, but I understand that that doesn't qualify me for early boarding and this is my first NCL cruise, so no Lattitudes perks. I'm just concerned about lingering at the pier with my little kids (11 months and 2 1/2). Thanks, Jackie

p.s. is there anyway to set up my account so I get notified when someone responds to my post?

Mitfine: We were on the Dawn in Feb. for the 11 day Southern Caribbean cruise. One of the things that impressed me the most was the "kids cafe". It was absolutely adorable. I had almost wished I had my grandkids with me...(almost) The height of the tables and chairs was just perfect for the lil ones. The selection of foods for them was wonderful. What child doesn't like hamburgers, chicken fingers, mac and cheese...etc. They even had yogurt and some really cute desserts. It's a real plus for parents with finicky eaters. I couldn't help but watch some of the children in there and they looked quite content. I hope yours enjoy it too.

Happy cruising!

Yes and no. When you respond to a post, you can scroll down to the thread subscription section and ask for instant, daily or weekly notification by e mail when someone responds to this particular thread. You can't specify that you only want responses to your particular post though. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the info. We have been on the Dawn twice, but without the grandkids. I remember how cute the dining area was. I think they will enjoy it. I didn't realize that it was open for dinner. This will be perfect for them because they are not too patient in restaurants. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
