RMS Olympic Posted July 10, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2012 2 rooms! Wow, one for you and one for luggage? One for you and one for "entertaining"? One for you and one for hair care products? One for you and one for your casino winnings? or...one for you and one for accumulated bar receipts? Ah....the life of the rich and famous...me likey! CruisinMaterial Posted July 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2012 Ha ha RMS!! No I have a studio booked for myself if I wind up going by myself and I have a balcony booked if mom can make it. Right now it's looking like the balcony is going to win out but this year has been a roller coaster for her health so I am keeping both up until final payment time and then will decide. :) Either way I'm going on this voyage so no worries about that. I've just been hesitant on joining the other roll call (in the NCL section) because I have another voyage close up and want to complete that one before joining the Breakaway's large thread. I do poke over there every now and again! :) Do you have a studio, interior, oceanview or balcony?
RMS Olympic Posted July 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2012 So from your comment.....you are a poker not a pokee........:D:D:D I booked an outside cabin...prefer the term stateroom. My window overlooks the bow. I could not see booking a balcony as I expect the weather to be less than cooperative that time of year. If its really rough I can watch the bow crash into the waves...unless we experience following seas which I hate. I remember one cruise with following seas where the stern kept coming out of the water ....the props almost shook the ship apart........spilled cocktails all over the bar:mad: Hope your Mom does fine and makes the cruise...that way we know you will behave and have someone tuck you in at nighty night time:rolleyes:
CruisinMaterial Posted July 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 12, 2012 Ha ha ha... I wouldn't worry about being tucked in. I'm a grown man! :p Mom wants to do a pre-cruise tour of the UK for her last major trip overseas and we're going to combine it with coming back to the US on Breakaway, which I've always wanted to do a Trans-Atlantic. Either way, I'm doing the voyage. The pre-cruise tour might be a costly thing if I go it alone. I was thinking of switching my cabin to an ocean view instead of balcony but the amount of space is bigger in a balcony plus to come into NYC would be awesome from my own little space! I'm also hoping for calmer seas than what you've just described!!:eek::D The last time I was on a ship which had issues in seas like that was the NORWEGIAN DREAM and thankfully she's no longer in the NCL fleet!!! RMS Olympic Posted July 13, 2012 #9 Share Posted July 13, 2012 You mention the Dreamward (as she was named when entering into service). I sailed her on the maiden voyage (as short ship that greatly improved with her lengthening). On her maiden voyage we backed into the old concrete pier at Cozumel.......backed in way too fast and hit real hard. A hole was punched in the hull above the waterline......way to go NCL! As for being tucked in.......if its the actor Jason Statham...he can tuck me in anyday! I'm not proud;)
