Just off the Maiden voyage of Breeze this morning (6/15)...ask if you have questions

Recommended Posts

One more question (Have I exceeded the limit?)...

Q: The ship docked at 5am... John Heald posted that debarkation (who had to catch 8:30am flights) started at 5:20am... That is way too early for me! What time did you have to be out of the cabin? What time did you have to be off the ship?

Thanks for all the info! Very helpful :)

Q: How much is the fee for the Thrill Theater? I heard $7.95 per show or $14.95 unlimited.

A; correct

Q: Were there a lot of kids under 8 in the cruise?

A: there were quite a few...but again, the way the layout of the ship is, didn't notice much

Q: Which ports did you have to tender?

A: none

Q: You mentioned weather is colder than expected... 70s? 80s?

A: yes...it will get warmer. At sea at night and in the morning in ports, it was 62 - 65

Q: Aside from Vatican, where else do they a dress code? I'm trying to figure out which ports we should make sure not to wear shorts.

A: Anywhere you enter a religious facility on tour......Florence, Pisa, etc, etc....Dress code is mainly for women. Shoulders covered, and shorts must touch knees. It is enforced.

Q: Cable car in Montserrat takes 5 mins to go up... Do you know how long it takes the rack train to go up?

A: 8 minutes maybe

Q: Aside from Montserrat, where else is a good day trip from Barcelona?

A: Couldn't find another day trip. That is why we took Montserrat

Q: Was there a schedule of shows for the entire cruise available or were the shows listed each day in the Fun Times or did you just have to go to the Theater to find out what was showing.

A: Fun Times

Thanks

Have a great flight home.

Q: Wait, you did a drive past Stomboli? I thought they weren't going to do that anymore

A: Apparently the boat used to sail a lot closer than it does now. I would say we were about three miles off the coast of Stromboli. See below

Now, can anyone explain to me exactly why anyone would live on this island since it is a giant volcano? And what do they do? The small white things you see at the bottom of the island are homes.

Incredible! and Awesome :D

2. Is there any other special events nights? i.e. White Night etc

3. Which ports had free shuttle service ( I know civitavecchia puts on a free one ) or which ports can you just get off and walk to the port gates?

Thanks

Q: Did you go in the casino ? where can you smoke in their? you may not no the answer to that but just asking .

A: They have the Promenade set up kind of cool on this ship. On all other ships, the Promenade walk way was on the port side of the ship next to the windows with the casino to your left as you are walking towards the front of the ship. On the Breeze, the Promenade walkway goes through the center of the casino. Smoking is allowed in the casino...not sure which side....but I could swear people were smoking on both sides. Not sure what the enforcement was.

Q: Who will be the first to post a good picture review? Can't wait!

A: Son interesting here....I wanted to take many photos of the ship, but we would get back from our excursions so tired that I gave up on that idea. Also, with the exception of Dubrovnik, Venice, and Monte Carlo, all of the ports are industrial and do not provide a good photo opp. Since our stay in Monte Carlo was cut short, and we chose an excursion in France, we did not have the opportunity to go up to the scenic point to take photos of the ship. Mr Radu did, and as I am sure that many of you saw on John's FB page, his shots were incredible.

Q: what time you had to leave the cabin in Barcelona??

A: Debarkation starts at 5:30am...yes, 5:30am because many guests have international flights. The last call for self assist is 8:30am. I believe that they have everyone off by 9:00 - 9:30am

Q: what time you came out from the ship in Barcelona??

A: We had an excursion to Montserrat to kill time before we checked into our hotel, and that one was like 5 hours long which is why we selected it. We were off the ship by 8:45am

Q: How many Elegant nights?

A: One...and this was a 12 night cruise

Q: Is there any other special events nights? i.e. White Night etc

A: THere were many things going on at night...the only one I remember was Mexican Fiesta night....

Q: Which ports had free shuttle service ( I know civitavecchia puts on a free one ) or which ports can you just get off and walk to the port gates?

A: I want to say that just about every one had some sort of shuttle service. What you have to remember though is that just about every port we docked at was an industrial port. It is not like the Caribbean where you just get off the ship and there is stuff to do. Here, you get off the ship and you basically get a taxi to go somewhere that is a pretty good drive away. Olbia (Sardinia) had a free shuttle that took you into the city, and I believe Livorno had the same. We had Carnival sponsored excursions the whole time so never used the service.

Here is another thing that was really cool:

The process to get people off to their excursions...

Every morning when the ship would dock, the meeting place was the Ovation Theater. You would have a time printed on your excursion tickets, and you would show up to the theater at that time. They would give you a sticker with a number, and when your number was called, you would go with that group to exit the ship. Made the process very orderly. And they were operating two gangways most of the time. One for those with excursions, and one for those without excursions.

Off to international flight. Will be back in like 15 hours.

Hi

Hope you had a great flight home. Question Delta just cancelled our return flight home so now we will have to stay an extra night.

the good is that we wanted to see Montserrat embarcation day and they cancelled that so now we can take the Carnival tour Debarcation day.

Did you have a Carnival Hotel booked? If not where did they leave you off? We are thinking of Rennasance Barcelona Airport which is a Carnival hotel but if we use them and they then bring us back to the hotel from what I have read it is in the middle of nowhere. So approximately what time did the tour return from Montserrat.

If you do not mind what hotel did you stay at and where were you and your luggage left at the end of the tour?

Our new flight leaves Barcelona at 10:25AM so we need to choose a hotel and transportation that will get us to the airport early enough.

Did you enjoy Montserrat it is on my bucket list and I thought we were not going to be able to see it but since the cancelled flight and having to stay the extra day it is now possible.

Thanks for all the help you can give me

Q: Did you have a Carnival Hotel booked?

A: No, we stayed at the Hilton Diagonal Mar because I am Hilton Hhonors Gold, and my room was free. It is not carnival sponsored, and it is just up the road from the Novotel which is Carnival Sponsored.

Q: If not where did they leave you off?

A: On debarkation day, we went to the Montserrat bus that was dropping off people at Novotel when it was done. Halfway through the tour, I talked to the bus driver, told him our hotel was less than 2km from the Novotel, and gave him 5 euros. He dropped us off at our hotel. :-)

Q: So approximately what time did the tour return from Montserrat.

A: we were probably at our hotel by 2:00pm

Q: If you do not mind what hotel did you stay at and where were you and your luggage left at the end of the tour?

A: Hilton Diagonal Mar as stated above. Luggage traveled with us on the bus the whole time, and again, we paid our bus driver to take us to our hotel

Q: Our new flight leaves Barcelona at 10:25AM so we need to choose a hotel and transportation that will get us to the airport early enough.

A: Our flight left at 6:50am, so we had a taxi pick us up from our hotel. It was like 50 euros total. Please note that along with the cab fare, the drivers charge 1 euro per piece of luggage. Apparently that is standard there.

Q: Did you enjoy Montserrat it is on my bucket list and I thought we were not going to be able to see it but since the cancelled flight and having to stay the extra day it is now possible.

A: So Montserrat is ok......but after having been to Venice, the Acropolis, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Ephesus (Turkey), etc, etc....it does not compare to those, and that is why I say ok. We have seen it and have no need to go back. It is high in the mountains, so some of the views of the countryside are quite breathtaking. You may like it better....the drive is really nice though.

Q: I just have a question in regard to the aft pool. Is that adult only like on the other ships? I know you mentioned not utilizing the pool but wondering if you knew. Thanks

A: Since our cabin was aft on deck 9 and we had to go up to deck 10 every day for the Lido marketplace, we passed by the pool every day. There were kids in the aft pool every time we looked out there.
