OnceAMarineAlwaysAMarine Posted May 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2005 My sister is joining us on our Empress cruise in October. She has multiple sclerosis and is in a wheelchair (although she is able to walk short distances and get on/off the tender). I love Labadee and our favorite area is Hideaway Beach. My question is: Do they have any faclity (like a golf cart or small vehicle) that they will use to transport handicapped folks across the sand to Hideaway Beach? HighFives Posted May 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2005 I'm not 100% sure about getting all the way to Hideaway, but there were several people being pushed around in a suped up wheelchairs (really big tires) to make for easier movement on the sand. hdawson Posted May 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2005 Labadee has the beach wheel chairs and also the tractor drawn tram that circles the resort.
boingy300 Posted May 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2005 My friend's husband is in a wheelchair and just did a Western on Carnival. I referred her to Cruise critic's "Special Interest" section and she found a great deal of info there. Maybe it has something there about Labadee, but I don't recall. I remember reading cozumel's Chakanaab was wheelchair friendly. Have a great cruise and good job for her for going!
