New sydney cruise passenger charges

for what its worth Alaska charged almost $50US per person...until it was reduced to about $35.

the US original constitution(yes the one written in 1787) prohibits the states from imposing any such tax unless its specifically relates to the cost of using the harbor and facilities...

These are two completely different fees that you are talking about.

 

The $8 increase is for what once was called the departure tax, which is charged on international departures from Australia, the op's post is about a n.s.w government fee for ships coming and going in Sydney.

 

My apologies. I was not aware there were 2 new taxes.
