Ironman Competition in Kona

We were hoping one of our back to back cruises this fall would coincide with the Ironman comp in Kona, but just read that it has been canceled for this year.

Just read that notice and it says something about 1/2 the Ironman distance. I noticed the bike race is only (only?) 56 miles and I always thought the Ironman is a 112 mile bike portion. Soundls like a different race. Also of note is the Kona Pier is closed for the Iron Man. Clik on Hawaii and the 2005 ship schedules at this site http://www.hawaii.gov/dlnr/dbor/borhicruise.htm
