bride91501 Posted July 13, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2012 So, we finally decided on the Carnival Valor August 26 sailing from Miami. Apparently, I checked the rates during a special "72-hour sale" (?), so when I went back to today to book the cabins, the fares had increased nearly $150pp  Is it likely that the fares will go back down? I've already given DH the sale-price...he's gonna have a fit if we have to pay more :o I don't mind waiting it out if the rates will likely drop again.... TIA everyone! You never know, but not likely. They sold out their excess stock of cabins at the lower rate.
bzpilot Posted July 13, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2012 As said above, you never know, but chances are pretty low for you to see anywhere near a $150 discount 6 weeks out from sailing.
firefly333 Posted July 13, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2012 On the other hand by August 26th, slow season starts, and there may be some pack n goes, some great last minute prices... I have seen some dynomite prices even 8 days before the cruise sails that time of year. Give us one hurricane .. and bookings will be down. Georgiagolfer Posted July 13, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2012 I agree with ff, but with 1 additional comment. If you are definite about the ship, date, and room category, you may want to go ahead and book. However if the date is flexible, wait on a price drop. beckymomof2 Posted July 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2012 We are booked out of Miami on 8/11/12 and I've been checking the prices daily since we booked just out of curiosity. They have held steady... maybe increase a tiny bit. There was one time I looked I saw a "pack and go" rate but then either the next day or two days later, it was gone. I don't know much about rates, but this is what I've seen with my booking. I probably wouldn't hold out for lower prices. Tell your husband what they are and see what he thinks. That's all you can do.
