kruzseeka Posted July 18, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2012 How long is the transfer from Dalaman airport to Marmaris? Thomson usually say about two hours but I think that's to give themselves a margin - it was just over an hour and a half if I remember correctly. Sailaway487 Posted July 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2012 How long is the transfer from Dalaman airport to Marmaris? We've always experienced it at around 90 minutes also. Last time we did the Marmaris transfer we were on a quite old coach that didn't have very good air-conditioning at all. Add this to a temperature of 47 degrees and it wasn't the most relaxing journey from Dalaman Airport, especially when you've just landed. ;)
jimphil Posted July 18, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted July 18, 2012 Thanks for speedy replies--not looking forward to experiencing Dalaman airport! Do we have to get our cases on arrival and take them to the coach?
Sailaway487 Posted July 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 18, 2012 Thanks for speedy replies--not looking forward to experiencing Dalaman airport! Do we have to get our cases on arrival and take them to the coach? Yep, you have to take your cases of the baggage carousel and then make you way outside, down the ramp, towards the coaches where you will see someone with a Thomson Cruises sign to direct you to your coach. Unusually, Turkish authorities don't allow any reps at all inside the arrivals area. Instead they have to be in the coach park outside. Dalaman Airport coming in isn't too bad. Thomson Cruises customers get their own passport control queue due to not having to pay for a visa, so arriving is rather swift. It's going from Dalaman with having to go through security to get in aswell as after check-in and the prices for food and drink are ridiculous! loveschillinatsea Posted July 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2012 Yes you pick up your cases and then have to walk out of the airport to the tour operators desks which are outside - in the heat!! The transfer takes 1hr and 30 minutes. Don't sit on the left hand side of the coach as it will be in the sun most of the way and despite the air-conditioning it gets very hot! At Marmaris you exit the coach and go through checking in procedures, leave your luggage and walk down to the ship. Make sure you have some water and a sun hat wouldn't go amiss. Have a fantastic holiday - we did! Just got back on Monday also!
DebsLpool Posted July 20, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Don't you normally have to collect your cases from the carousel and take them ouside to your relevant coach, or is the procedure for Thomson's cruises different at different airports? jimphil Posted July 20, 2012 Author #9 Share Posted July 20, 2012 At Barbados airport you get straight off the plane and onto the coach!
stevedeccaman Posted July 20, 2012 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2012 but what if the life drill is on the coach ? as happens on recent arrivals late into airport (well on med cruises I understand) Stevie :)
