oldmedic Posted May 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2005 I just searched the "Member Reviews"section of CC for the Holiday and the latest one listed is December of 2004. Any one have any ideas where I might be able to find more recent reviews of the ship?
kamari Posted May 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I was wondering the same thing. I'm trying to decide if I want to book a sailing fo late August.
Mrs. Connie Posted May 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I don't know what you have to do be an "official" reviewer, but there are lots of trip reports posted here that never make it to the official section. I took Holiday Jan 31-Feb 5 and LOVED it. You can do a search on this board of the poster (me) or on key words (Holiday) and see what the archives hold. My trip report was not in the "epic novel soon to be a major motion picture" league, but I thought I included a lot of information helpful to first timers. Cotton Posted May 12, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Wish I could help. I know I did a couple of reviews on the Holiday, but they're floating around in cyberspace somewhere, I guess.:D Don't know what happens to all those reviews. I will tell you, however, that there are LOTS of us who absolutely love the Holiday! She's my favorite, and I've been on her for four cruises with NO problems whatsoever. Great crew, staff, entertainment, food, very clean ship. If you can't locate a 'true review', I'm sure there are several of us who will be happy to answer any specific questions you might have.:)
LeeNHCruiser Posted May 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I posted one not too long ago. We went on 4/25. IT WAS FABULOUS!!!! Here's the link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=174100
Terri102066 Posted May 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2005 Okay this is not an official review, but I'm like Cotton. I really enjoy the Holiday. I have only been on the ship once, but I have two upcoming cruises on it booked. I went last October and I will be going in July and October of this year. It does help that it has came to Mobile which is an easy 5 hour drive from my home. The Holiday is older and smaller, but leave nothing to be desired. It is very clean and the workers are always cleaning and very nice. The staff can either make or break a ship in my opinion. I had much rather have a staff that is friendly an a huge atrium. This is just my choice. If you are looking for a glamerous atrium and theaters you may need to check out another ship, but if you want a clean & friendly experience take the Holiday. I like the opportunity to meet someone on the ship and actually bumping into them again. I know last year on the Holiday we ate lunch and breakfast about the same time every day and we had our regular people that were always there also. I know the family that we had breakfast with in the dining room one morning was on both the same excursions that we were on. This made our experience very good, because it seemed like we had friends on board. I also am very happy with the Mobile cruise terminal. With only one ship there it is not as crowded as others and it was a nice new building and the staff was very fast last year when we left from Mobile. LeeNHCruiser Posted May 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I have to concur with every word Terri said. :D I would go again. I just got a price from Carnival for a December cruise on Holiday ~ $299 for an outside. You can't beat that price!
shecat Posted May 12, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 12, 2005 oldmedic & kamari we were on the April 25 sailing with Lee. We had a great time and have already booked again for August. I am writing my review and hope to have it posted by next week if not sooner. Do you have any specific questions about the Holiday or the ports? I received the email today too for the $299 outside for December 1. That is a good deal.
oldmedic Posted May 13, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted May 13, 2005 shecat, I don't have any specific questions, we have a Cruise Critic group cruise booked in October and I am just trying to get reviews to those in our group that have never cruised before. I am looking forward to the Holiday. Thanks for the replies to all!!!

clginal Posted May 14, 2005 #11 Share Posted May 14, 2005 Hi...we took our first cruise on Holiday back in Oct. & just LOVED it!!! We loved it so much that we talked our son & new DIL on taking it for their honeymoon. :D They are due back tomorrow!!! They did email on Tues. saying they were having a great time & that they were a little overwhelmed because there was so much to do but not enough time to do everything. They also thanked us for recommending the cruise. I can't wait to hear all about it. :) The Holiday may be older & smaller than most but it is wonderful....we can't wait to go again. Mobile is only 3 hrs. from us so it will be an easy drive.
ECUTeacher97 Posted May 15, 2005 #12 Share Posted May 15, 2005 I am sailing on the 6/2 Holiday out of Mobile and I was wondering about the spa specials LeeNH was talking about. It sounds like they are only good for the one day- what kinds of specials do they offer and should I just immediately go to the spa and try and reserve something when I get on board- I know on RC, that if you go to the spa first thing, you can volunteer for free services to be conducted while they give spa tours, I wasn't sure if Carnival does the same thing? oldmedic Posted May 15, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted May 15, 2005 ECUteacher, they did that on the Elation last time we were on board- you might volunteer!!
southerngirl Posted May 15, 2005 #14 Share Posted May 15, 2005 My husband and I booked a suite cabin and actually chose the cabin V2, be very careful not to choose this cabin or V1 as there is a public stairwell that leads to a public deck where people can stop 1/2 way up the stairs and shake your hand as you are sitting on your balcony and the people on the deck can look into your room as well. I was amazed at the rudeness of the people stopping on the stairs and staring into our room as we are getting ready for dinner or relaxing. We did not get to leave our curtains open most of the time because of the rude people. Not to mention the kids would jump the rail and help themselves to our lounge chairs. Otherwise, even though an older ship we had a great experience!!
ECUTeacher97 Posted May 15, 2005 #15 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Can anyone who has traveled with a toddler on the Holiday- that is too little for Camp Carnival- give me some ideas of activities you can do together on the sea days? I know she can't go in the pool, or the casino and i do realize that Holiday is an "intimate" ship with limited public areas- just trying not to be stateroom bound on those days!
