canadian9981 Posted July 20, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2012 Our family of 3 will arrive at Villefranche on a Monday. We plan to go to Eze Village the first thing in the morning and then go onto Nice around noon. When in Nice, we plan to have lunch in the Port area and then walk around Old Town Nice, Promenade des Anglais and head back to Villefranche around 4:30 t 5 p.m. I have the following questioins: If I took bus #82 or #112 into Nice, which stop should I get off? Is Le Port the right stop? Is the Port area a good area for lunch? If not, any other recommendation? Is the Port area and Old Town Nice within walking distance? Or do I need to take a bus? I heard that there is an electic train that go around Old Town Nice. Where can I gert on? Any ideas and suggestions on how to tackle Nice are welcome. Eileen G Posted July 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2012 We took the 81 bus directly from Villefrenche to Nice. It was very obvious when we passed by the port with all the yachts around the harbor. We got off at the Nice bus terminal and walked to Old Town. At the end of the day we walked up to the old castle on the hill and walked down the other side to the port and caught the bus back to Villefrenche from there. You can also walk around the hill along the water which shouldn't take too long. There seemed to be several nice cafes at the port.
canadian9981 Posted July 24, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2012 Thank-you for the info. How long is the walk up to Castle Hill and down to the port?
Eileen G Posted July 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2012 It took us about an hour but we took a lot of pictures and walked around on top. There was a WC on top with a charge. you can see my pictures here: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=1e98e90214e77bf9#cid=1E98E90214E77BF9&id=1E98E90214E77BF9%211368
